ASK THE DOC- Be good to your colon and it will be good to you

Be good to your colon and it will be good to you Written By Dr. Jason Goldman While many people are embarrassed to talk about their colon, understanding how to maintain GI health is important for many reasons. The most obvious function is to concentrate waste material into stool, which is then passed out of the body. Recent studies suggest that the bacteria we have in our intestines contribute to how the body and immune system function. Unfortunately, many people do not take care of their health, especially their colon, and this can lead to serious problems. It is never too early to be good to…

ASK THE DOC- Domestic Violence: The Abuse Must Stop

Domestic Violence: The abuse must stop. Written By Dr. Jason Goldman   One of the most heinous crimes is the physical and sexual assault on another human being. It is unconscionable in this day and age that domestic violence and sexual assault continues to be an epidemic. The numbers are staggering and the problem needs to be stopped. It is imperative as individuals, and as a society, that we recognize the warning signs and put an end to this tragedy. The victim is never at fault and no action ever justifies domestic violence or sexual assault. No means no and victims need to be supported in every way possible. As a physician, I have seen too many people victimized by this crime and am frustrated…

ASK THE DOC- Penile Fracture: It can really happen

Penile Fracture: It can really happen Written By Dr. Jason Goldman As an internist, I have been asked all sorts of questions ranging the spectrum of the human condition. One of my male patients was concerned about a condition he heard of and wanted to know if it was real. The question was if the penis can be broken. The quick answer is that it certainly can. Fortunately, this is a rare condition but it does occur and is certainly a medical emergency that needs to be dealt with immediately to avoid complications, further damage and injury. Before discussing the injury, it is important to understand the basic anatomy of the penis. The male organ is essentially comprised of two large tubes known as the…

ASK THE DOC- PrEP: A Brief Review

Written by Dr. Jason Goldman, M.D. The transmission of HIV can be prevented if proper steps are taken. The disease is well understood and the methods of transmission have been extensively studied. The importance of understanding prevention is that once HIV is contracted, there is no current cure. While the disease can be treated and life extended, it is better to not get infected in the first place. As a brief review, HIV is transmitted through blood and bodily fluids. The most at risk behaviors are those that lead to transmission of those fluids. During sexual intercourse, the partner who’s is receiving bodily fluids is at higher risk but the virus can still be transmitted to the other partner. Anal receptive is the highest risk.…

APAG creates The Benz List, a Performer Consent Checklist!

The Officers of the Adult Performers Actors Guild have created a performer consent list, also known as The Benz List. We have worked together to create a list that allows for a true and fair explanation of what a performer is willing to do on camera, to protect performers from having  their consent violated. Performers are often asked to perform acts they love, but sometimes a performer is put in a situation where there is no conversation regarding their comfort zone. This performer consent list covers what kind of scene they will be performing, along with sex acts they are either comfortable with, or more importantly, sex acts to which they are not comfortable with. This type of list allows performers to understand each others…
